Unlike CRTs of old, LCD lifespan is not limited by phosphor burn; instead, gradual backlight degradation and electronic wear determine longevity. With a few science-backed habits, you can push the useful life of your LCD monitor or TV well past the 100,000-hour mark.

First, understand the failure modes. LED backlight degradation occurs when blue diode intensity drops over time, shifting white balance toward yellow. This process accelerates with heat and excessive current. Pixel aging is far slower, but stuck or dead pixels can appear if the TFT array is stressed by voltage spikes.
